1. ELEVATOR TO ANOTHER WORLD

This game appears to originate on a Korean website some may recognize as the source of a particular comic that pops up every few months or so on sites like reddit. Unfortunately I don’t speak Korean, so working off of the rough translation found here, I’ve tried to tease out a clearer version of the rules and instructions. It’s unclear whether the Otherworld to which the elevator delivers you is the Shadowside referred to by FableForge in his various games and rituals, or whether it’s something else; regardless as to what it may or may not be, however, as always—play at your own risk.

Players:

1 principal
Requirements:

1 building, at least 10 stories high, with an elevator. All three of these conditions must be met in order for the game to proceed.
Instructions:

Venturing Out:

Enter your chosen building and get into the elevator on the first floor alone. Do not proceed if anyone else is in the elevator with you.
Press the button for the fourth floor.
When the elevator reaches the fourth floor, do not get out. Instead, remain in the elevator and press the button for the second floor.
When you reach the second floor, remain in the elevator and press the button for the sixth floor.
When you reach the sixth floor, remain in the elevator and press the button for the second floor.
When you reach the second floor, remain in the elevator and press the button for the tenth floor.
When you reach the tenth floor, remain in the elevator and press the button for the fifth floor.
When you reach the fifth floor, a young woman may enter the elevator. Do not look at her; do not speak to her. She is not what she seems.
Press the button for the first floor. If the elevator begins ascending to the tenth floor instead of descending to the first, you may proceed. If the elevator descends to the first floor, exit as soon as the doors open. Do not look back. Do not speak.
If you reach the tenth floor, you may either choose to get off the elevator or to stay on it. If you choose to get off, and if the woman entered the elevator on the fifth floor, she will ask you, “Where are you going?” Do NOT answer her. Do NOT look at her.
You will know whether you have arrived at the Otherworld by one indication, and one indication only: The only person present in it is you.
The Return Trip:

If you chose to stay on the elevator at the tenth floor:

Press the button for the first floor. If it doesn’t work, keep pressing it until it finally does.
When the elevator reaches the first floor, exit as soon as the doors open. Do not look back. Do not speak.
If you choose to exit the elevator at the tenth floor:

You must use the same elevator to return as the one in which you arrived.
When you enter the elevator, press the buttons in the same order you did in steps 2 through 8 of Venturing Out. You should finish at the fifth floor.
When you reach the fifth floor, press the button for the first floor. The elevator will again begin to ascend to the tenth floor. Press any other floor’s button to cancel the ascension. You MUST press the button you use to cancel the ascension BEFORE you reach the tenth floor.
After you reach the first floor, check your surroundings carefully. If anything seems off—even the smallest detail—do NOT exit the elevator. If you detect something wrong, repeat step 2 until your surroundings look as they should. Once you are confident you have returned to your own world, you may safely exit the elevator.
Additional Notes:

Should you reach the Otherworld, the floor onto which you will emerge will look almost identical to the one from your own world, save for two things: All the lights will be off, and the only thing you will be able to see from the windows is a red cross in the distance.
Some say that electronic devices—mobile phones, cameras, MP3 players, etc.—don’t work in the Otherworld; others say they do.
Getting back to your own world may be more difficult than it seems: You may become disoriented and forget which elevator in which you arrived; the elevator may seem to get further and further away from you as you walk towards; and so on. Be vigilant, and keep your wits about you.
If at any point during the ritual you faint, pass out, or otherwise lose consciousness, you will likely wake up in your own home. However, be sure to carefully examine your surroundings upon waking—the “home” to which you have been returned may not be the one you left when you first set out to attempt this ritual.
Concerning the Woman on the Fifth Floor:

Do NOT speak to her.

Do NOT look at her.

If you do, she may decide to keep you for her own.

2. SLIT MOUTH WOMEN

The Slit-Mouthed Woman is an urban legend in Japan. It's about a woman who was the wife of a mentally-ill schizophrenic man. He claimed to heard voices telling him to murder, not only was he schizophrenic, he was also bipolar. His wife's name is 'Kuchisake Onna." This man had physically abused Kuchisake Onna in which she had grew unhappy with him.

When it has been discovered that Kuchisake had found another man behind his back and was planning on having a divorce with him to have this other man, he had grew major amounts of rage. Through this rage, he had knocked Kuchisake unconscious, but the moment that she woke up, she had discovered that he tied her up.

Taking a large pair of scissors, her murderous husband figured he would have to kill Kuchisake before she had divorced him. He then used the scissors to cut a permanent smile in to her face, spreading the cut from ear to ear. The large hideous grin left a permanent wound on her face, he then asked her, "Who will think you're pretty now?"

He then took the scissors and used it to decapitate Kuchisake, upon murdering her, he had realized what he had done. From guilt, he used the scissors to take his own life by stabbing himself in the chest.

Then the urban legend is born that the spirit of Kuchisake Onna walks around the streets of Japan. If you happen to encounter her, you see her wearing a large surgical mask around her face. She approaches you and says, "Am I pretty?" But before you can answer her, she removes the mask and asks, "Am I pretty now?"

Urban legend has it, if you reply to her saying, "You're ugly." She takes her scissors and uses it to remove your head much as she was killed but if you say, "You are pretty." She takes the scissors and stretches your mouth ear to ear making you look just as 'pretty' as her.

But then if you say, "You're average." She stops and gets confused giving you enough time to run off from her but still be careful. She possesses super-human strength and speed and is able to kill off people in the blink of an eye.

One day, this boy named John was just walking home from school before he was approached by her. She stopped in front of him and said, "Am I pretty?" But before he could answer her, she removed her mask and said, "Am I pretty now?" Terrified, John tried to run off but Kuchisake's cold left hand gripped him by the neck stopping him. Kuchisake's hand then forced John's head to turn rightwards thus breaking his neck.

He didn't die right there but the cops had come and Kuchisake was gone. They took him to the hospital and when his spinal cord had healed, he died from fear and his last words were, "The Slit Mouthed woman."

Chance was not the smartest person though but he had learned spirits could be banished by chanting the words, "I banish you to the Shadow of death, no evil or fear should be able to touch me. I send you back in to the Earth, back to the grave from which you have come."

Though, his mother had told him not to travel through the woods although there was a short cut to get home. Chance had came home from school one day and went in to the woods stupidly, walking across the dirt. But it was too late because he had spotted Kuchisake.

Kuchisake walked over to him and out of fear, Chance fell backwards landing on his back. She looked down at him and said, "Am I pretty?" Before Chance could answer, she removed her surgical mask and asked, "Am I pretty now?" Revealing the hideous and deformed face, Chance had heard the urban legend of the 'Slit-Mouthed woman' but did not believe it at first.

Now horrified, Chance took his left hand grabbing his cross necklace and began chanting the curse of the devil, "I banish you to the Shadow of death, I corrupt you to the netherworld from which no one has come from. In to the dirt no being should ever cross." Instead of chanting the words he knew, these words have done a tremendous thing.

Three demonic large hands rose from the dirt from behind Kuchisake grabbing at her left leg beginning to pull her underneath. Kuchisake shook while standing up trying to escape but then three more hands from behind her rose from the ground grabbing at her right leg beginning to force her body to sink. Kuchisake dropped her blade as the dirt around her began forcing her to sink.

Chance then realized that the demonic hands belonged to the tortured souls that Kuchisake had killed but they had been corrupted. The hands kept grabbing Kuchisake until she was half-way underneath, but then she jumped up grabbing at Chance's legs. Three more hands rose from the ground beginning to grab Chance as well but Chance was able to escape because he grabbed on to a tree with his left hand. Kuchisake lost her grip but then she looked up at Chance with dark words.

"I will be back, and I will too tear you to pieces." As the large monstrous hands was able to pull Kuchisake deep underneath the dirt to Hell, the hands then sunk back in to the ground as well. Chance was scared so he stood up and quickly ran back home.

Now urban legend has it that Kuchisake will return to Japan one day and continue to seek the vengeance of the death of herself. But she will come back even more decomposed, half of her face will be half skeleton, and she will be a lot worse. Some believe that she has already returned and if she did, be sure not to give her the wrong answer.

3. THE BATH GAME


Daruma-san, also known as The Bath Game, is probably best described as a deadly version of Red Light, Green Light. After the initial summoning ritual has been performed, it follows the basic rules of a Japanese children’s game called Darumasan ga Koronda — literally, “The Daruma doll fell down.” The player is “it,” while Daruma-san attempts to catch “it.” But if Daruma-san catches you… well, let’s just say you should never, EVER let that happen.

Curiously, Daruma or Dharma dolls are traditionally symbols of good luck. The Daruma-san of this game, however, seems not to carry the same good luck as her namesake—and neither, should she catch you, will you.

As always, play at your own risk.

Players:

1 principal.
Requirements:

1 bathroom with a bathtub.
NOTE: A shower may NOT be substituted. You MUST use a bathtub.

Instructions:

The Prelude:

Begin at night, just before you got to bed.
Shed your clothing and enter the bathroom. Fill the bathtub with water and turn out the lights.
Climb into the tub and sit down facing the faucet and taps. Close your eyes and begin washing your hair.
As you wash your hair, repeat the words “Daruma-san fell down. Daruma-san fell down.” Do not stop repeating them until you have finished washing your hair. Do not open your eyes.
If you have performed this action correctly, you will gain a mental image of a Japanese woman standing in a bathtub. She will slip and fall, landing face first on a rusty tap and gouging her right eye out.
Should you hear any noise behind you or feel movement in the tub, do NOT turn around and do NOT open your eyes. Ask aloud, ‘Why did you fall in the bathtub?”
Allow the question to hang in the air. Then, keeping your eyes shut, carefully stand up and get out of the tub. Do not trip and fall yourself, and do not drain the tub. Exit the bathroom, shutting the door behind you.
You may now open your eyes. Leave the bathroom as you left it — water in the tub, door shut — until morning. Do not turn on any lights.
Go to sleep.
The Main Event:

Awaken at your usual time. The game begins the moment you open your eyes.
Go about your day as normal. You will feel a constant presence behind you; it is likely that, should you turn to look, you will see nothing. However, glancing over your right shoulder may occasionally reveal a glimpse of her. Her hair will be black and tangled, and she will have only one eye.
She will attempt to get closer and closer to you as the day goes on. Should you spot her and find that she is too close for comfort, shout “Tomare!” — that is, “Stop!” — and run away. The idea is to put some distance between you and her; do NOT allow her to catch you.
The Ending:

Capture her in your gaze by looking over your right shoulder.
Shout “Kitta!” — that is, “I cut you loose!” — while swinging your arm down in a chopping motion. If you have performed this action correctly, a winning condition will have been achieved and the game will be over.
If you have NOT performed this action correctly… run.
Additional Notes:

She is fond of water and dark spaces; as such, it is recommended that you avoid immersing yourself in or crossing running water, as well as traversing dark spaces, until the conclusion of the game.

Use the “Tomare!” command sparingly. Each time you use it, the amount of time for which it will stall her will diminish. Use it only when absolutely necessary.

The ending MUST be performed before midnight. Failing to do so will grant her permission to enter your dreams. Do NOT allow her to do this. Additionally, performing the ending is not as easy as it seems. If she suspects you are about to try to end the game, she may hide. You MUST have her in your sights when you perform the “Kitta!” command.

Concerning Second Attempts:

It is NOT recommended that you play this game more than once. Should you play it a second time, she will begin in the same position she was in at the conclusion of the previous game. This will not provide adequate distance to escape her.

Do NOT let her catch you.

4. THE MIDNIGHT GAME

"The Midnight Game" is an old pagan ritual used mainly as punishment for those who have broken the laws of a pagan religion.

While it is mainly used as a scare tactic to not disobey the gods, there is still a very real chance of death to those who play the Midnight Game. There's an even higher chance of permanent mental scarring. It is highly recommended that you DO NOT play the Midnight Game.

However, for those few thrill seekers searching for a rush or those delving into obscure occult rituals, these are the simple instructions on how to play. Do so at your own risk.

INSTRUCTIONS

PREREQUISITES: It must be exactly 12:00AM when you begin performing the ritual, otherwise it will not work. The materials required include a candle, a wooden door, at least one drop of your own blood, a piece of paper, matches or a lighter, and salt. If you are playing with multiple people, they will all need their own of the aforementioned materials and will have to perform the steps below separately.

Write your full name (first, middle, and last) on a piece of paper and put at least one drop of blood on the same paper. Allow it to soak in.
Turn off all the lights in the house. Go to your door and place the paper with your name in front of it. Take the candle and light it. Afterward, place the candle on top of the paper with your name.
Knock on your own door 22 times (the hour MUST be 12:00AM upon the final knock), then open the door, blow out the candle, and close the door. You have just allowed the "Midnight Man" into your home.
Immediately relight your candle.
This is where the game begins. You must now lurk around your completely dark house with the lit candle in hand. Your goal is to avoid the Midnight Man at all costs until exactly 3:33AM.

Should your candle ever go out, it is because the Midnight Man is near you. You must relight your candle within the next ten seconds. If you are unsuccessful in relighting the candle, you must immediately surround yourself with a circle of salt.

If you are unsuccessful in both of these, the Midnight Man will induce a hallucination of your greatest fear until 3:33AM. If you are successful in relighting the candle, you may proceed. If you are successful in creating the circle of salt, you must remain within the circle until 3:33AM.

You must continue until 3:33AM without being attacked by the Midnight Man or being trapped within the circle of salt to win the Midnight Game. The Midnight Man will leave at 3:33AM and you will be safe to proceed with your morning.

Staying in one spot the entire game will only result in the Midnight Man finding you. It is highly advised you continue moving throughout the game.

DO NOT turn on any lights during the Midnight Game.
DO NOT use a flashlight during the Midnight Game.
DO NOT go to sleep during the Midnight Game.
DO NOT use another person's blood on your name.
DO NOT use a lighter to substitute for a candle. It will not work.
DEFINITELY DO NOT attempt to provoke the Midnight Man in ANY WAY.

5. HIDE AND SEEK


The "One-Man Hide and Seek," aka the "One-Man Tag," is a ritual for contacting the dead.

The spirits, which are wandering restless on the Earth, are always looking for bodies to possess. In this ritual, you will summon such a spirit, by offering it a doll instead of a human body.

Warning: If you have psychic abilities, you may feel unwell or be prone to accidents during the ritual.

Things You Need
One stuffed doll. It must have limbs.
Rice, enough to stuff the doll full.
One needle, and one crimson thread.
One pair of nail clippers.
One sharp-edged tool, such as a knife, glass shard, or scissors.
One cup of salt water. Natural salt would be best.
A bathroom, with a bathtub and some form of counter.
A hiding place, preferably a room purified by incense and ofuda. There must be a TV in there.

Preparation
Take out whatever the doll is stuffed with. Once all of its stuffing is removed, re-stuff it with rice. *1
Clip off a few pieces of your nails, and put them inside the doll. Sew up the opening with the crimson thread. When you finish sewing, tie up the doll with the rest of the thread. *2
Go to the bathroom and fill your bathtub with water.
Return to your hiding place, and put the cup of salt water on the ground.

How to do it
Give a name to your doll. The name can be any but your own.
When the time is 3 AM, say "(your name) is the first it," to the doll three times.
Go to the bathroom, and put the doll into the water-filled bathtub.
Turn off all of the lights in your house, go back to the hiding place, and switch on the TV.
After counting to ten with your eyes closed, return to the bathroom with the edged tool in your hand.
Go to the bathtub, and, say to the doll, "I have found you, (the doll's name)." Stab the doll with the edged tool. *3
Say, "You are the next it, (the doll's name)," as you take the doll out of the bathtub and leave it on the counter in the bathroom.
As soon as you have put the doll down, run back to the hiding place, and hide.

How to finish
Pour half of the cup of salt water into your mouth. Do not drink it, just keep it there. *4
Get out of your hiding place, and start looking for the doll. The doll is not necessarily in the bathroom. Whatever happens, do not spit out the salt water.
When you find the doll, pour the rest of the salt water in the cup over it. Then, spit out the salt water in your mouth onto it as well.
Say, "I win," three times.
This is supposed to end the ritual.

After this, make sure you dry the doll, burn, and discard it later.

MOST IMPORTANT:
Please do not stop this ritual halfway. You must do it through to the end. This is a dangerous ritual, and I will not be responsible for what happens to you if you try.

Other Things to Keep in Mind
Do not leave your house until you have done the finishing ritual.
You must turn off every single light in your house when told to do so.
You must keep quiet while hiding.
You do not need to put the salt water in your mouth during the beginning. You only need to do it during the finishing ritual.
Remember, if you are living with someone, you might put them in danger too.
Keep the ritual/"game" under two hours, or else the spirit will be too strong to remove.
For safety reasons, it might be best to keep all the doors in the house unlocked, including your front door. As well, have friends close by, so that they can come and help you at a moment's notice, if you ever need them. Keeping a mobile close at hand would be a good idea too.

Notes
- The rice represents innards, and also has the role of attracting spirits.
- The crimson thread represents a blood vessel. It seals the spirit(s) up inside the doll.
- By cutting the thread off, you break the seal and release the spirit(s) you have trapped.
- If you go out of the hiding place without salt water, you may encounter "something wandering around" in your house, which may harm you in some way. The way to feel the presence of "something wandering around" is to watch "what happens to the TV."

6. THE HOODED MAN RITUAL



The Hooded Man Ritual appeared on the NoSleep subreddit in November of 2014. According to its submitter, nickybutler123, it has surfaced on other sites in the past; I’ve been unable to locate these other sites, however, so it’s possible that this claim is meant to deepen a newer story’s sense of history.

Certain similarities strike me between the worlds traveled to by the Hooded Man’s taxi cab and the one(s) that can be reached via the Elevator to Another World ritual. I’m not sure whether they’re the same ones, though, so do with that what you will.

This ritual should NOT be attempted in a state of agitation, nervousness, or fear.

As always, play at your own risk.

Players:

One principal.
Requirements:

Two black cords or ropes measuring half a meter in length each.
A telephone. If you have access to an old-fashioned rotary phone, it is suggested you use it, as it will provide the greatest effect. A modern touch-tone phone will also work, although it is recommended that it be of a corded variety. Cordless or cellular phones may present some difficulties and are not recommended.
Matches or a lighter.
A watch.
Salt.
Instructions:

The Prelude:

Prior to beginning, perform a cleansing ritual in the location in which you plan to perform the Hooded Man Ritual. Burning a sage smudge stick and spreading salt or ash before the front door are recommended; for more detailed instructions, see here.
Shut all the doors, close all the windows, and draw all the curtains.
Turn off the lights, as well as all electronic devices. Set the two black cords, as well as the matches or lighter, near the phone.
Empty your pockets of any power or protection items, but keep the watch on your person.
Calling the Cab:

Begin at night.
Sit down before the telephone and count to the number 13. Then, leaving the phone on the hook, dial the following number: 20496888.
Tie one black cord securely to the telephone’s handset. Lift the handset by holding the cord only; then dial the following number: 25515823.
Count to 13 and set the handset down, but do not hang it back on the cradle. Speak the following words into the receiver: “Hello? I need a cab.”
Untie the first black cord from the handset and replace it with the second one, making sure to secure it tightly. Burn the first cord immediately if possible; if it is not possible to do it immediately, burn it as soon as you have completed the ritual.
Open the curtains and look out. If you have completed steps one through five correctly, you will see a black taxi cab parked outside. Exit the building, locking the door behind you, and climb into the cab’s empty back seat.
Lock the cab door and go to sleep.
During the Ride:

When you awaken, use your watch to check the time.
If your watch reads anytime other than 3:30am: Exit the cab and reenter your home within two minutes. Proceed to “The Ending – Step 1.”
If your watch reads 3:30am: Go back to sleep.
When you awaken for the second time, you will find the cab to be driving on a highway with a man wearing a hood at the wheel. Do NOT do any of the following:
Panic.
Attempt to get out of the cab while it is moving.
Speak to any other passengers the cab may pick up.
When you are ready to end your ride, lean close to the hooded man’s ear and say the following words, slowly and deliberately: “I have reached my destination.” You will fall asleep one last time; when you awaken, you will have returned to your starting location.
The Ending:

Once you have returned to your starting location, seat yourself before the telephone once more and dial the following number: 200082.
Use the black cord to lift the handset, set it down, and recite the following words into the receiver: “Thank you for the ride.”
Untie the black cord from the handset. Burn it; then bury the ashes of both it and the first cord in the ground. Scatter salt over the top of the burial site.
Perform a cleansing ritual.
Additional Notes:

Sage, salt, or other items of protection may be used during the cleansing rituals performed before and after the Hooded Man Ritual itself; however, these items should NOT be carried with you while you are performing the Hooded Man Ritual.

Should you feel threatened, followed, stalked, or otherwise unsafe at any point during the ritual, do NOT proceed. If you have not yet gotten in the back of the cab, do not enter it; if you have, perform step five of “During the Ride.”

Panicking, attempting to exit the moving vehicle, or speaking to other passengers may result in dire or fatal consequences. Do NOT, under ANY circumstances, perform those actions.

Concerning the Length of the Cab Ride:

You may allow the cab ride to continue on as long as you desire; however, it should be noted that the longer the ride, the more difficult it is to emerge from the landscapes through which the cab passes. Should you wish to return to the same world you left, it is recommended that you do not allow the cab ride to go on for undue amounts of time.

It is unknown what happens when the cab stops. If you are feeling adventurous, you may attempt to find out…

…But don’t count on being able to return home again once you get there.
